What is Mobic?

Mobic (meloxicam) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Meloxicam works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.

Mobic is used to treat pain or inflammation caused by rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis in adults. Mobic is also used to treat juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in children who are at least 2 years old.

Dosage

The drug is taken orally during a meal in a daily dose of 7.5-15 mg.

Recommended dosing regimen:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis: 15 mg per day. Depending on the therapeutic effect, the dose may be reduced to 7.5 mg per day.
  • Osteoarthritis: 7.5 mg per day. With the ineffectiveness of the dose may be increased to 15 mg per day.
  • Ankylosing spondylitis: 15 mg per day. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 15 mg.
  • In patients with an increased risk of side effects, as well as in patients with severe renal failure who are on hemodialysis, the dose should not exceed 7.5 mg per day.
